It wasn’t until the fourth time today watching this movie at work since yesterday (it gets boring at work so I played encore viewings of Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides at the donut shop), that I noticed this particular pun or innuendo in the middle of the film. Its after Angelica (Penelope Cruz) snatches and throws the snake out of the river, away from Jack. Afterwords, he goes to talk to the Philip Swift, the crew’s priest. After a brief dialogue among the two, Swift sees that their captive mermaid is suffocating and Jack agrees with him. Jack’s choice of words, however, have a double meaning. I’m pretty sure this was intentional on Jerry Bruckheimer’s part, because you can hear one of the zombie guards chuckling.
